AMR has changed its technical concept from land-based towers to unused oil-rigs. It proved to be difficult to buy or lease land in the Pacific. Decommissioned oil-rigs are readily available and can be used without further ado, all we need to do is add the disperser and a vent. Floatable rigs can be placed and anchored in ideal locations on the ocean. All in all they are more cost-effective, even though getting to and fro may require some additional helicopter flights.
